The Tales of the Walking Dead release date for season 1 episode 1 is August 14, 2022 at 9pm ET on AMC. Subscribers to AMC+ are able to watch episode one early now, with episode 2 arriving to the streaming platform on August 14. The rest of the season will drop with a traditional weekly schedule, with early access available for subsequent episodes a full week ahead of their AMC broadcast at 3am ET.
Exactly when Tales of the Walking Dead will be released outside of the US remains to be seen. Original series The Walking Dead is broadcast on Disney Plus via the Star banner in the UK, so some think that the spin-off will follow suit. There is also no news on whether or not the series will get a second season. AMC are likely waiting to see if the first one is a success before giving the greenlight for future editions.
What is Tales of the Walking Dead about?
Tales of the Walking Dead season 1 episode 1 is called ‘Evie/Joe’, bringing Munn and Crews on board in the titular roles. Joe is described as “a reclusive prepper” who meets “unlikely ally” Evie on the road, teaming up with her “in an effort to find their lost loved ones.” Said to be “polar opposite”, it will be interesting to see the chemistry shared between the two A-listers on screen.
Episode 2 is titled ‘Blair/Gina’, and will take viewers back to “the onslaught of the apocalypse in Atlanta, Georgia, 2010.” Posey and Bell play Blair and Gina respectively, “two co-workers who despise each other” but are “relentlessly confronted with life-threatening choices that make them question whom they want to be at the end of the world.” Watching colleagues who hate one another forced to work together in a bid to survive this deadly new world should be a treat for audiences.
In other news, The Walking Dead season 11 part 3 will finally address the series’ ‘smart zombies’, while the Walking Dead movie has been canceled in favor of a limited series with Rick and Michonne.
