Dinkum How to get Tin Sheet

Dinkum: How to Get Tin Sheets

One of the first big blockers in Dinkum is the need to get Tin Sheets. These are needed to construct John’s Shop, but they’re the first item Fletch doesn’t tell you how to get. Fortunately, Tin Sheets aren’t too hard to find; you’ve just got to know where to look.

Where to find Tin Sheets in Dinkum

Dinkum Tin Sheet Tooltip

There are two ways to get Tin Sheets in Dinkum:

  • Sawing a Tin Bar in half
  • Discovering them by metal detecting

Get a Tin Sheet by sawing a Tin Bar in half

Fletch doesn’t tell you this, but you can get a Tin Sheet by using a Tin Bar on the saw. It’ll run through just like a piece of lumber, and you can pick it up on the other side. This is extremely easy to overlook as, from what I’ve seen, this knowledge only appears in the tooltip for Tin Sheets in the construction material deposit menu.

Find Tin Sheets while metal detecting

If you don’t feel like mining for Tin or want to save your Tin Bars for something else, you can find Tin Sheets while metal detecting. To do so, you’ll need to:

  1. Unlock the Excavation License
  2. Unlock the Metal Detecting License
  3. Buy a Shovel
  4. Buy a Metal Detector

Once you’ve met the above requirements, you can search the island for Tin Sheets. However, this method isn’t as reliable as making them yourself. There’s no guarantee that a sheet will appear, and it requires the upfront investment of points and money to get rolling.

On the other hand, finding Tin deposits can be challenging and time-consuming. It also requires a Mining License and will have you running through quite a few pickaxes.

We found ourselves producing Tin Sheets by cutting through bars at first. However, once we started metal detecting, we were able to start storing them in numbers that made making them ourselves unnecessary.
