Fans are wondering if Deep Space Nine characters will be in Star Trek: Picard Season 3. NuTrek has pulled from every Trek series for inspiration so far but has mostly ignored Deep Space Nine (and Enterprise). Fans who hoped to see what happened with Sisko and company have been left high and dry. However, Kurtzman recently addressed whether DS9 would make it into NuTrek at SDCC.
Will any Deep Space Nine characters be in Star Trek: Picard Season 3?
We know that at least one Deep Space Nine character will be in Star Trek: Picard Season 3. Michael Dorn will be returning as Worf, Son of Mogh. However, since he was also part of the cast of The Next Generation, it’s dubious if we can count him.
Unfortunately, no other DS9 characters have been slated to return in any active Star Trek productions. At an SDCC 2022 panel, franchise runner Alex Kurtzman replied to a question from a fan asking if there had been any discussions at bringing characters from DS9 back with:
“I’m trying to answer your question without revealing anything. I think you’re always having conversations about the history of Star Trek. And obviously, Sisko is a critical, critical figure for everybody. So conversations definitely have been had.
What I’ll tell you is that, for us, we don’t want to just launch into something without going, “Oh, we have now a new idea.” A new reason to do it, a way to turn it in a new direction so that it’s not just repeating the thing you’ve seen before, but it’s also honoring the thing that you love. So if we ever do go down that road, other than what we’re already doing on Lower Decks, I think we would all want to make sure that it was coming from that place of being able to tell a new story while honoring the old one.”
The latest Lower Decks trailer shows that the Cerritos will be visiting Deep Space Nine. It’s highly likely that since the show takes place in the 2380s that at least a few of the gang are there. So, we may at least get to see some of them animated.
