Fallout 5: Release Date Rumors, Leaks, News, and More

A Fallout 5 release date is an inevitability. The series is incredibly popular and is one of Bethesda’s cornerstone IPs. However, the studio isn’t known for its speedy releases, so many fans wonder just how long it’ll take to get the next single-player Fallout game. We’ll take a look at rumors, leaks, and news about a potential release date below.

Fallout 5 Release Date Leaks News

The only solid evidence of an upcoming Fallout 5 release date is from an interview IGN did with Todd Howard as part of its Xbox Games Showcase Extended Livestream 2022. In the interview, Howard stated that Elder Scrolls 6 is in pre-production and that development on Fallout 5 would begin when it is finished.

This statement from Howard is the first official confirmation that Fallout 5 is in the planning stages and that the company intends to continue the series. Given the franchise’s success, it was obvious that a new entry would come eventually. However, the bad publicity around Fallout 76 has definitely tarnished the brand, which cast a bit of uncertainty around its future.

Unfortunately, that one comment from Howard is the only information we have about Fallout 5 so far. It’s likely that only the barest work has been done on the game, and even the basics like when and where it’ll take place are likely up in the air. Most of the previous titles have taken place primarily in the countryside surrounding larger American cities. Well, there are plenty of those left to choose from, so trying to guess which one the devs will pick is an exercise in futility.

Given that Elder Scrolls 6 is still very early in development, we wouldn’t expect Fallout 5 to release until near the end of the decade at the earliest. More than likely, we won’t see it until the 2030s unless Bethesda Game Studios changes its typical approach to producing games.
