Fans are already wondering what the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta dates will be for this year. Fortunately, we already know how to sign up for the open beta, but details about any closed alphas or betas are scarce. We’ll cover what we know about Modern Warfare 2 betas so far below.
How can I sign up for the Modern Warfare 2 beta?
You can sign up for the Modern Warfare 2 open beta by pre-ordering any version of the game. If you want to play first, though, you’ll need to get the game on PlayStation because the reveal trailer stated it would be coming to PS4 and PS5 at least five days before other platforms.
For now, we only know about the open beta advertised as a pre-order bonus. It’s possible that a closed beta or an alpha test could be available at some point as well. However, there’s no sign-up info for them yet.

Unfortunately, Activision didn’t release the open beta dates for Modern Warfare 2 along with the reveal trailer. However, Infinity Ward’s last Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare (2019), was released around the same time that MW2 will. So we can make some educated guesses about when the beta will be based on that.
The Modern Warfare reboot beta kicked off on PS4 for those who pre-ordered the game on September 12 and opened to all PS4 owners on September 14. This PlayStation exclusive beta ran until September 16. A week later, a second open beta opened for those who had pre-ordered the game on any platform on September 19 and to everyone on September 21. Finally, the cross-play beta ended on September 23.
Activision confirmed that it still has a marketing deal with PlayStation, so we expect to see similar timing with the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 open beta.
