Start Pokémon GO With Pikachu Instead
When you start the game, you have the option to choose Charmander, Squirtle, or Bulbasaur as your starting Pokémon, but the game does give you a hidden fourth option: Pikachu!
All three of the original Pokémon will appear on the map but instead of selecting any of them, simply walk away from them. The game will refresh and place Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur on the map near you again. It's annoying, but walk away again.
Once the game refreshes the options for a fourth time, stop. Pikachu should now appear as an altenrative option alongside the original three.
Force Eevee to Evolve Into Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon
Usually, Eevee will evolve into its three traditional evolutions - Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon - randomly once you have 25 Eevee Candies. But you can force the evolution of Eevee by renaming it to particular names, which reference the original Eevee Brothers on the original Pokémon anime. Each brother had one of the three different Eevee evolutions, and if you rename your Eevee to that brother's name, you'll receive the corresponding Eevee.
To be more specific, naming Eevee "Sparky" will force-evolve it into a Jolteon, "Rainer" will force-evolve it into a Vaporeon, and "Pyro" will force-evolve it into a Flareon.
Just to be certain of the evolution, especially with all the server issues going on with Pokémon Go thus far, it's best to rename Eevee to your name of choice, and then restart the game and make sure that the new name has been accepted by the server before evolving the Eevee.

Trick Pokemon Go Into Thinking That You're Walking
Sometimes the GPS tracking system can't pinpoint your location very well. If you can find a spot where the GPS can only barely figure out where you are, the game might think that you're walking around even though you're not.
This helps if you want to hatch your eggs in their incubators sooner than later. It can also help scan for nearby, though you're standing still. I've used this trick myself to capture more Pokémon than I would normally at nighttime.
Kindred Fates is an open world monster battling RPG, and a love letter to the monster battle genre. Our goal is to evolve the genre, and finally bring fans what they've been asking for.
