One of the first major evolutions you will gain access to in Pokémon GO is Eevee's. Each of his evolved forms are relatively easy to gain access to due to Eevee's common rarity, and each of these evolutions have remarkable CP potential.
However, Eevee's evolution isn't ordinary. Instead of being linear, he can evolve into Flareon, Jolteon, or Vaporeon. This "random" nature has caused mystery with the community as players have spent more than a week trying to figure out how they can select which of the three to evolve to for any number of valid reasons. Although it once seemed impossible, there is a way.
Before evolving your Eevee, head to its profile and tap the pencil icon next to its name to give it a nickname.
Type in one of the following names depending on which evolution you want:
- Pyro = Flareon
- Rainer = Vaporeon
- Sparky = Jolteon
When you eventually decide to evolve the nicknamed Pokémon, it will change to whichever evolution is associated with the name you selected.
Pyro, Rainer, and Sparky were the names of the four Eevee Brothers who are known for being the original owners of Flareon, Vaporeon, and Jolteon. That Pokémon knowledge paid off, after all! This is just one of what is sure to be a long and interesting list of easter eggs in the game.
