It would seem that the developers for Quordle have been kind for these past few puzzles, as today’s solution has one word in the top-left corner that’s extremely challenging and another that you may not have heard of unless you know a lot about geometrical shapes. What is the Quordle answer 99? (May 3, 2022)
The Quordle answer 99 is:
- “EPOXY”
- “TORUS”
- “THOSE”
- “CANNY”
Among the four words, the first two are the trickiest. It’s not that “EPOXY” is unknown, especially if you’re ever needed to purchase an adhesive from a hardware store, but it contains both an “X” and a “Y” and has an unusual letter sequence. There aren’t a lot of words that can be made merely by changing one of its letters. Hopefully, by the end of the puzzle, you will have found the positions of the three vowels so that you can fill in the rest of the consonants.
By comparison, “THOSE” and “CANNY” are relatively simple, with the first word getting you the position of the “O” in “EPOXY” and the second getting you the “Y” in the word. “TORUS” is more difficult to decipher since it’s more commonly used in mathematics and you might waste a guess on the similar word “TOURS.”
Where the general strategy for Wordle focuses primarily on getting as many yellow and green letters confirmed, Quordle has a longer approach as it allows for nine guesses across a grid of four letters. It’s recommended that you input words with as many unique letters as possible. That way, you can get more out of the process of elimination by the end of the puzzle.
