Fans of the series are hoping that Rune Factory 5 comes to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. The unique life sim offers a blend of farming, exploration, and dungeon crawling that satisfies an itch players can’t scatch elsewhere. Will Rune Factory 5 get a PS4 or PS5 release date?
Before the last few years, we wouldn’t have thought that Rune Factory would come to a Sony console. The series was a Nintendo exclusive for its first four main series entries. However, things have changed, and this is not a multiplatform franchise.
We thought that the Rune Factory series had ended because of the bankruptcy of its developer, Neverland. We were surprised when Marvelous and Xseed announced that an enhanced port called Rune Factory 4 Special was coming to Switch. Even more astonishing is that it was later released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Since Rune Factory 4 came to PS4, there’s no evidence that Rune Factory 5 couldn’t do the same.
Will it get an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S release date?
Again, like we stated above, Rune Factory 4 Special released on Xbox One, so the door is open for further titles. We wouldn’t be surprised to see the fifth game in the series release for Microsoft’s consoles in the next year or two.
With a niche title like Rune Factory 5, the more platforms it can be released on, the better. This is especially true since life sim titles have become more and more popular over the last few years. Since games like Stardew Valley revitalized the genre, players can’t get enough of that farm and village life. As such, this would make a great candidate for Xbox Game Pass at some point. However, the game hasn’t been officially announced for any other platforms yet.
