The Dung Eater is a filthy and reviled NPC in Elden Ring whose questline leads to one of the endings. It’s loathsome to have to deal with him, and finding the Seedbed Curses needed to complete his story is a pain. To find the Dung Eater’s location in the Sewer-Gaol and figure out where he invades, read on below.
Elden Ring Dung Eater Questline Locations
I’m not sure exactly when the Dung Eater spawns in Elden Ring. It seemed like he showed up around the time I made it up to Altus Plateau. Players will find him in a newly-opened room full of corpses just past the Twin Maiden Husks. He has the red glow of an NPC invader, but he won’t fight players when they first meet. Instead, he’ll talk to them about a curse and then dismiss the player.
Players won’t be able to progress the Dung Eater questline until they find at least one Seedbed Curse. Players can get one early at Volcano Manor, but it’s a pain to get. So instead, we recommend waiting until players reach the capital to grab one since the quest can’t be completed before unlocking the Haligtree anyway.
Seedbed Curse Locations
There are six Seedbed Curses in Elden Ring, and players need five of them to finish the Dung Eater’s questline:
- Leyndell: From the East Capital Rampart Site of Grace, head into the city and cross the first outdoor expanse to enter a large building. Take the elevator down and then head into the next building and climb the latter. Then, take the stairs up to find the Seedbed Curse on a corpse in the middle of the room.
- Leyndell: In the Fortified Manor (the copy of the Roundtable Hold), players can find a Seedbed Curse on a corpse that the Dung Eater occupies in the real Roundtable Hold.
- Volcano Manor: In the area just before the gateway that leads to Rykard, there’s a door that requires a Stonesword Key. Players will have to drop down into the room using the cages as steps. On the ground level there’s a body that carries a Seedbed Curse.
- Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: There’s a Seedbed Curse on a balcony before the area with the Putrid Avatar and ballistas. Players will have to find a path across the rooftops to get to it.
- Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree: On the ground level area that contains multiple Revenants, there’s a room containing two Crystalline enemies. In here is a corpse with a Seedbed Curse.
- Leyndell (missable): In the small pond northeast of the capital walls, players can meet Blackguard Big Boggart. To get this Seedbest Curse, players will have had to met the Blackguard before going to Volcano Manor and found him again at Leyndell. The Dung Eater must also be at the point in his curse where he tells players he’s waiting for them in the outer moat. Players will need to talk to the Blackguard a few times, and it will trigger his death, upon which he’ll drop a Seedbed Curse.
Where is the Sewer-Gaol?
Once players give the Dung Eater his first Seedbed Curse, he’ll ask them to feed it to his physical body and hands over the Sewer-Gaol Key. The Sewer-Gaol is found in the Subterranean Shunning-Grounds and can be found be heading through a grate in the floor in the entry area near the Underground Roadside Site of Grace.
To get there, spawn at the Underground Roadside Site of Grace, then head left out of the room. On the right is the open grate. Go north to find a passage to the left that contains a bunch of poisonous plants. Head up the ladder and fight the hands. After they’re head, players can unlock the door to find the Dung Eater.
Where is the moat that the Dung Eater wants to fight in?
Once players give him one Seedbed Curse, the Dung Eater will leave a note in his room in the Roundtable hold saying to meet him at the outer moat. If players want to complete the Blackguard Big Boggart quest, they should go do so now. Once players are ready, just head to the area marked on the map above to take on the Dung Eater.
Once he’s down, players can talk to him again in the Roundtable Hold. He’ll ask them to bring his body in the Sewer-Gaol more Seedbed Curses.
How does the Dung Eater questline end in Elden Ring?
Players need to feed the Dung Eater five Seedbed Curses to complete his quest. Once he’s absorbed all five, he’ll give birth to the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse and disappear. If players reload and visit the place where his body was, they’ll find his armor, the Omen Set.
Once players have the Mending Rune of the Fell Curse, they can use it to obtain the Blessing of Despair ending.
