Players can de-aggro hostile NPCs and merchants in Elden Ring through Atonement. This ability is unlocked by finding the Church of Vows. Atonement does two things:

There’s also one that a Bloodhound Knight drops in the Academy of Raya Lucaria. However, don’t expect to run into them all the time. It doesn’t seem like a farmable item, and once the finite number in the game are gone, they’re gone for good. So, players who are wreckless and use Atonement as a crutch will be disappointed sooner or later.
