The Spirit Calling Bell is one of the most important items in Elden Ring. However, some players are finding Renna isn’t appearing to give it to them. The conditions to get this NPC to appear are well known at this point, but we don’t know if Renna disappearing is a bug or if it’s by design. Fortunately, there is a way to get the Spirit Calling Bell if players can’t find her, which we’ll detail below.
Why is Renna not appearing in Elden Ring?
There are three reasons why Renna may not be appearing in Elden Ring:
- She leaves if players haven’t visited her after a certain amount of time after triggering her appearance.
- The trigger to make her appear hasn’t fired.
- She’s supposed to appear, but a bug is preventing it.
Renna is supposed to show up at the Church of Elleh after players obtain Torrent from Melina. After players find their third Site of Grace (usually Gatefront), Melina shows up, and players get Torrent the Spectral Steed. This is Renna’s cue to show up at the church and give players the Spirit Calling Bell and the Lone Wolf Ashes. Unfortunately, that’s not happening for some people.
So, we know getting Torrent is a requirement for Renna to appear, but is that it? Some players have stated that she was missing and only showed up when they fast traveled to the Church of Elleh. Others said she only appears for them if it’s night.
It seems like there’d be more direction given for such a vital encounter, but it’s actually completely optional. However, the Spirit Calling Bell actually isn’t hard to find, even if Renna never appears.
How to get the Spirit Calling Bell without Renna
Melina will eventually introduce players to the Roundtable Hold (usually after fighting Godrick) if they continue through the game. Players can find an NPC named Twin Maiden Husks in this hub area. If they haven’t obtained the Spirit Calling Bell and Lone Wolf Ashes from Renna, players can purchase them from this shop.
