Read on below to find out how to gain the ability to summon Spirit Ashes and where to find Glovewort to upgrade them.

How to upgrade Ashes in Elden Ring

Elden Ring Upgrade Spirit Ashes Glovewort Locations

Before players can upgrade their ashes, they need to get the ability to summon them. To do so, they need to immediately return to the Church of Elleh as soon as they gain the ability to summon Torrent. A witch there will ask if the player is the Spectral Stead’s master. Answering the affirmative will get players the Summoning Bell and the Lone Wolf Ashes.

After this, players need to head through Gatefront and to the Stormhill Shack. There they’ll meet Roderika. They should talk to her as much as possible until her lines repeat, and then keep playing until they unlock the Roundtable Keep. When they visit the keep, they’ll notice Roderika has made her way there.

Now, talk to Roderika and Smithing Master Hewg for the next few visits and eventually, Roderika will ask the player to talk to Hewg about teaching her Spirit Tuning. Eventually, Roderika will move into the side wing across from Hewg and offer the ability to upgrade spirits in exchange for Glovewort.

How to find Glovewort

Like with Smithing Stones, there are two variations of Glovewort. Grave Glovewort is used to upgrade regular Spirit Ashes. Ghost Glovewort is needed to increase the strength of renowned ashes. Both of these can be found in graveyards and from enemy drops. However, the best place to find them in bulk is in catacombs and crypts.
