After the conclusion of the second season in 2021 on Crunchyroll, fans are hoping to hear a Re:Zero Season 3 release date. The series stood apart from other isekai with its use of a time loop, and gained a loyal following. We’ll take a look at the potential for a season three of the anime and when it may release below.
Will there be a Re:Zero Season 3 release date?
There will almost certainly be a Re:Zero Season 3 release date. It hasn’t been officially announced yet, but the anime was popular enough that there’s little doubt we’ll see its continuation. The biggest thing that has fans worried is that there was a four-year gap between seasons one and two of the anime. However, this is because season one had adapted all the light novels written up to that point. As a result, White Fox, the studio that produces the Re:Zero anime, had to wait until more had been written before producing more episodes.
Fortunately, the second season of Re:Zero only adapts up through volume 15 of the 28 light novels currently on the market. That means the anime is roughly two and a half arcs behind. In addition, the second season only includes the tail end of the third arc and the fourth arc, so there’s potentially two seasons worth of material available for White Fox to use right now.
It’s likely that White Fox already has Re:Zero Season 3 in pre-production. The last season just wrapped up its split cour run in March 2021, so it might be a while before it’s finished. It’s excruciating waiting to see best girl Rem again, but it shouldn’t be too long of a wait.
Those who thought season two was a little slow and long-winded will be glad to know that there’s more action in the fifth arc of the story. More Sin Archbishops appear, and the plot moves more briskly in general.
