Outriders 2 Release Date: Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox

Outriders found its market among game fans eager for a co-op action RPG with substance. Naturally, the boldest players were quick to run through the game. Now, they wait in anticipation of new content. There’s an expansion on the way, but what about a sequel? Here’s everything we know about Outriders 2, its release date, and potential platforms.

What is the Outriders 2 release date?

Developer People Can Fly has not provided a release date for Outriders 2. In fact, the studio hasn’t provided any indication that the game is in development. Considering how long it took to release Outriders, it will likely be a long time before we learn about a sequel.

There are a few reasons why, the first of which being that Outriders took quite a long time to develop. It spent years in development before Square Enix finally announced the game, giving us our first look at E3 2019. It took almost two full years after that before the game actually released.

And, like so many modern games, development didn’t end after release. The crew at People Can Fly have been working on new content and expansions, including the upcoming Worldslayer expansion due out later this year.

Could Outriders 2 release for Switch, PS4, or Xbox One?

People Can Fly probably won’t release Outriders 2 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch. Considering the time it took to develop Outriders, the PS4, Switch, and Xbox One would be out-of-date consoles by the time a sequel released.

Technically speaking, the PS4 and Xbox One are last-generation consoles already. As for the Switch, well… Outriders didn’t release for the Switch, and it’s probably because the hardware wasn’t powerful enough. Perhaps the system’s successor will be more capable, but there’s no way of knowing for sure right now.

Outriders 2 doesn’t have a release date, because by all accounts People Can Fly isn’t working on it. The team is still developing new content for the base game. If a sequel is planned, rest assured that we’ll hear more about it from the developers themselves.
