Capcom has been trying to make a multiplayer version of its hit horror series for the last few years but has stumbled in trying to find something that resonates with fans. Many fans hope that we’ll see a Resident Evil Outbreak 3 release date once Capcom realizes how well the first two captured the survival horror feeling in a multiplayer setting. We’ll look at when the game might launch and what platforms it’d be on below.
What is the release date for Resident Evil Outbreak 3?
So far, there is no release date for Resident Evil Outbreak 3. Capcom hasn’t announced a continuation of the Outbreak sub-series, and we have our doubts as to if we’ll ever see one. The problem is, Capcom wants to monetize a multiplayer Resident Evil game, so it’s trying to use gameplay models from other successful titles to do so.
Resident Evil Resistance was meant to adapt the asymmetric 4v1 gameplay seen in titles like Dead by Daylight and Friday the 13th: The Game. However, fans just didn’t care for that type of game, and the player base quickly dwindled. RE:Verse was meant to release alongside Resident Evil: Village, and nothing has been heard of it since it was delayed into 2022.
The failure of these two attempts at a Resident Evil multiplayer paired with fan requests might push Capcom to release either a Resident Evil Outbreak 3 or a remake of the first two games. It seems like a no-brainer to monetize them with skins and battle passes.
What platforms will it release on?
What platforms Resident Evil Outbreak 3 releases on would depend on its timing. It’s a multiplayer game, so we’d anticipate it being cross-generational if released in the next year or so. Otherwise, we expect it would be released on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC only.
