Fans rejoiced when Mass Effect 5 was announced, and it’s one of the most anticipated games in the industry. The big question is when we can expect to see a Mass Effect 5 release date, especially given the issues BioWare has had in recent years. We’ll take a look at when and what platforms the game could release on below.
When is the Mass Effect 5 release date?
There’s been no official announcement concerning the Mass Effect 5 release date. Mass Effect Legendary Edition saw critical praise, so BioWare knows there is a legion of fans that can’t wait to continue exploring the galaxy.
Unfortunately for Mass Effect fans, BioWare is currently working on Dragon Age 4, which itself has no official release date. It’s almost a certainty that Mass Effect 5 won’t release until after that game, which means we probably have years to wait. Dragon Age 4 itself seems like it may be in development hell as we haven’t really heard much about it since it was revealed other than that it’s still in development.
We do have a bit of detail on what Mass Effect 5’s story will center around. The teaser trailer revealing the game shows an older Liara exploring a snowy planet and finding a piece of equipment marked N7. She seems to be accompanied by a Salarian, a Turian, and a human, but they’re too far away to make out if they’re a familiar character or not. She smiles at the end, which may indicate that she’s searching for Shepard and that what she found is a clue to their location.
What platforms will ME5 release on?
Given that it’s almost certainly years away from release, we’ll likely see ME5 launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. We highly doubt that BioWare would design such an eagerly anticipated game with last-gen consoles in mind. We’ll likely see more expansive locations and much shorter loading times with this new entry in the franchise.
