The Stone Ocean anime just premiered, but fans already want to know when they can expect season 6. There will almost inevitably be a JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run anime, and we don’t anticipate the release date to be too far in the future. So, when can we expect to see Johnny Joestar’s race across the United States?
When will the Steel Ball Run anime come out?
It might feel like the wait between Jojo anime parts is forever, but they’ve been produced fairly quickly. While there were almost 15 years between the release of the Phantom Blood manga and the current anime series, the wait between seasons isn’t nearly as long. We’ve seen around a two-year gap between seasons, so we can assume that will be the case with the Steel Ball Run anime.
The wait between Golden Wind and Stone Ocean was three years long. However, the COVID-19 epidemic likely played a significant part in this delay. Going forward, we expect the last batch of Stone Ocean episodes will be released by mid-late 2022, and we’ll see the Steel Ball Run anime release sometime in mid-late 2024.
Some fans might wonder why it takes two years to produce a season of JoJo when so many other anime manage a yearly schedule. However, it makes sense when taking into consideration that the last three seasons have been 39 episodes. Furthermore, David Productions doesn’t cheap out on the animation, and there’s a ton of intricate work that has to be done. Taking this into consideration, it’s a wonder that each part isn’t split into multiple seasons or released every three or four years instead of every two.
For now, the release date for the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run anime is up in the air. But, fortunately, we still have plenty of Stone Ocean coming soon (and hopefully the JoJolands manga).
