The exclusivity period has ended for Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and fans hope the game will get an Xbox release date. However, even though the game is coming to PC, plans for it to drop on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S haven’t materialized. We’ll take a look at whether FF7 Remake will come to Xbox below.
Will FF7 Remake get an Xbox release date?
During The Game Awards 2021, Square Enix revealed that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is coming to PC. However, nothing materialized concerning an Xbox release date, which fans anticipated would come alongside the PC release. Unfortunately, as of writing, there’s no Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S release date for FF7 Remake.
FF7 Remake was a Sony exclusive for its first year and a half on the market. It was first released on PS4. Then, a year later, a graphically updated version with new content hit the PS5 as Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade. We loved what this upgrade brought to the game, especially the Intermission DLC that added Yuffie’s story. Unfortunately, for now, only PC players are getting the game, but we wouldn’t count out an Xbox version yet.
Since FF7 Remake is launching for PC as an Epic Games Store exclusive, it’s possible that it’s a limited deal. Epic may have paid for an exclusivity period, after which the game can release on Steam and get an Xbox port. However, it’s doubtful we’ll see the game on Xbox One. Instead, Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Intergrade will likely be an Xbox Series X|S exclusive.
There’s no technical reason for FF7 Remake to not come to Xbox, so we bet it’s just a matter of time before it makes its way over. Square Enix has always been big on exclusives, so it’s not surprising that it’s trying to get the most mileage it can out of one of its biggest titles.
