Those trying to play FFXIV are running into error 2002, 3001, 4004, 5003, and 5006, which are preventing them from getting into the game. Some of these are lobby server connection errors, while others are related to server congestion. Fortunately, Yoshi-P himself has addressed some of these issues and has shined a light on why some of these issues are occurring in Final Fantasy 14.
How to fix error 2002, 3001, 4004, 5003, and 5006 in Final Fantasy 14
Many players trying to connect to the FFXIV servers are encountering error 2002, 3001, 4004, 5003, or 5006. Each of these issues has a different cause, but the solution to fix them is the same. Players must be patient and wait for network congestion to die down.
Fortunately, to apologize for the server issues, Square Enix is giving out seven days of free game time to all players who own the game and have an active subscription.
In the message to players, Yoshi-P explained the cause of the errors:
Error 2002 cause
FFXIV players will encounter Error 2002 when more than 17,000 people are trying to log in to a data center at a time. Alternatively, it can occur when a player’s internet connection experiences packet loss or instability. The only fix for Error 2002 is to wait until the congestion has died down and for players to make sure they’re using a stable internet connection, so they’re not forced to disconnect and reconnect repeatedly.
Error 3001, 4004, 5003, and 5006
Players will get a lobby server connection error 3001, 4004, 5003, or 5006 in FFXIV when their connection to the login management server times out due to being in the queue too long. The devs thought they had set a long enough session time with the lobby server, but the current queues are much longer than anticipated. A fix should be implemented soon that should eliminate these errors.
So, the best fix for these errors is to be patient and wait for Square Enix to address the situation.
