Forza Horizon 5 crashing on PC is an unfortunate error that many players are facing with the new racing game. While this issue isn’t widespread, it’s debilitating enough that many are wondering if there’s a fix after the game crashes when it’s opened via the Microsoft Store or the Xbox app. So is there a way to fix this problem?
Forza Horizon 5 crashing PC fix
If Forza Horizon 5 is crashing on PC, then there are a number of potential causes. The issue seems to stem from the game not playing well with certain software, meaning that you’ll either need to uninstall or disable programs to get it to work. Thankfully, Microsoft has highlighted the software that is likely to cause the game issues.
According to Microsoft’s Forza Horizon 5 support page, the game will not load if any of the following virus checkers are being used:
- Trend Micro Maximum Security
- Comodo Antivirus
- Sophos
- Emisoft Anti-Malware
- Avira
- Avast
- Bitdefender Firewall
Additionally, the below software can cause the game to fail to launch or even crash if they’re being used. Players have been asked to either disable or uninstall this software to ensure these issues do not present themselves:
- Logitech G Hub
- MSI Afterburner / Riva Tuner Statistics Server
- EVGA Precision
- OBS
- Xsplit
- Discord
- MacType
- Warsaw Banking App
- Wallpaper Engine
- A-Volute Sound studio
- Nahimic Audio
- Sonic Audio
Considering software like Discord and OBS is routinely used by PC players, this is an unfortunate selection of programs to cause Forza Horizon 5 issues. From our own testing, we found no crashes even while running software such as Discord and Logitech G Hub, though it seems that won’t be the case for everyone. Until Xbox Game Studios and developer Playground Games releases an update fixing these issues, it’s best to disable or uninstall all of these programs in the meantime if Forza Horizon 5 is crashing for you.
