Back 4 Blood Cross-play: Can PlayStation and Xbox play together?

Back 4 Blood Cross-play: Can PlayStation and Xbox play together?

Back 4 Blood follows a group of survivors called Cleaners as they’re placed under duress. That’s the nice way of putting it, anyway: The truth is that it’s a white-knuckle co-op bloodbath. This is a game designed to make players work together to stay alive. However, not everyone who plays the game will own it for the same platform as their friends. Can PlayStation and Xbox users play together? Don’t worry, Turtle Rock Studios came prepared with cross-play support.

Back 4 Blood: Can PlayStation, Xbox, and PC play together?

Back 4 Blood has full support for cross-play across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. PlayStation and Xbox users can play together, and PC users can play with console users. Cross-gen support also allows PS4 and PS5 players to join together, as well as Xbox One with Series X|S players.

Basically, everything is open across all platforms Back 4 Blood is available for. There’s nothing stopping owners of latest-generation consoles from getting together with friends on the PS4 or Xbox One. Likewise, PC players can mingle with anyone else playing the game. As for split-screen play, that’s another matter entirely.

Of course, not everyone is necessarily fond of cross-play. This is particularly true when it comes to PC players getting mixed in with the console crowd. You know what we mean. Fortunately, you can disable Back 4 Blood cross-play in the settings menu. With the option toggled off, you’ll only be matched up with other players on your current platform.

Turtle Rock Studios’ latest co-op release is intended to be played with others, which is precisely why cross-play support is so robust. After all, the game is at its best with your best friends — and there’s no guarantee everyone is on the same platform. Thankfully, PlayStation and Xbox users can play together, as can PC or console users. As long as both parties own the game, they’ll be able to join online multiplayer together. Alternatively, you can try the game out single-player for a truly harrowing experience.
