FIFA 22 Weekend Leagues have a new format, meaning competitive players are gearing up for some intense Ultimate Team battles at the end of each week. Traditionally, players spend weekdays participating in Division Rivals matches, earning enough points to qualify for the Weekend League. From there you play FUT Champions games, against other highly skilled players, to unlock the best rewards. That’s how it used to be — but FIFA 22 is set to change this. If you’ve got your hands on the latest entry in the series, we’ll help you adjust to the new Weekend League changes and differences.
What are the FIFA 22 Weekend League changes?
Instead of Rivals in the week and Champions at the weekend, FIFA 22’s Weekend League is a continuous challenge. You have to complete playoff games during the week, alongside Rivals, to qualify for Weekend League.
Yes, you’ve now got to balance two different game modes if you want to get the best rewards from FUT Champs. Firstly, you’ll need to play Rivals games to earn enough points to unlock Play-Off Champions. This is a five-game mode where, similar to placement matches, you play against five random opponents. The more wins you get, the more points you’ll earn. Once you pass a certain amount of points, which EA has yet to specify, you can qualify for Weekend League.
More than just changing how to register for Weekend League, the format itself has also changed. Instead of playing thirty games each weekend, EA has reduced this threshold to twenty. It makes the grind a bit more manageable, so you don’t have to constantly play FIFA 22 during your weekend. From there, it’s more of the same: play the twenty games, and win as much as you can.
If you reach the upper echelons, hitting Gold and the top 20% of Weekend League players, you can get your rewards instantly. This is different from before, where you had to wait until the following Thursday. Equally, you only get a set amount of Weekend League entries per season now – so plan your FIFA grind wisely.
