The team behind Robinhood are finally ready to offer their users crypto wallets. This is major new feature, allowing users to store keys, send or receive payments, and otherwise spend their hard-earned coins. Of course, it’s still a new feature, so anyone hoping to get their own Robinhood crypto wallet may be in for a bit of a wait.
Want to get a Robinhood crypto wallet? Join the list.
For now, the only way to get a Robinhood crypto wallet is to sign up for one. The team is currently testing the feature out with select participants, but plans to open up access to those who join the waitlist. You’ll have to join the list if you want to be among the first to try out Robinhood’s new crypto wallet.
The process itself is simple. Head over to the crypto wallet invitation page on the Robinhood website, then use the first link to join the waitlist. That’s all there is to it. However, there’s a promotion that allows you to move up the list by successfully inviting friends. Depending on how many invites you can send, you might jump straight to the top of the queue.
It may seem like a bit of a faff, but the upside is considerable. For those deep into cryptocurrency, crypto wallets provide an essential way to move funds about. Deposit coins, pay for goods, withdraw funds, that sort of thing. Being able to unify that ability among several wallets or coins is valuable just by itself. Small wonder that crypto trades now account for a large chunk of the company’s revenue.
Of course, unifying that capability with the rest of Robinhood, especially for existing users, is just icing on the cake. If Robinhood’s wallet works as intended, there’s little doubt the company’s app will be the new de-facto entry point for people just starting out with cryptocurrency.
It’s not entirely good news, though. If you want to get a Robinhood crypto wallet, you’ll have to join the waitlist. The feature isn’t fully ready yet, but hopefully it will be soon. In the meantime, you can follow development updates over at the official Robinhood Twitter account.
