The full new Fortnite map, as revealed above (via Shiina), includes a number of zones that have been affected by Operation Sky Fire. These zones are surrounded by domes, adding AI enemies into the mix, which were previously hinted at by datamined information that seemingly referred to these zones as ‘The Sideways.’

The Sideways is similar to Stranger Things’ Upside Down, providing an alternate view on existing locations that are also overrun with monsters. These new points of interest can be taken on by players, with them appearing near Misty Meadows, Dirty Docks, Pleasant Park, Believer Beach, Weeping Woods, and Sludgy Swamp.

While these are big additions to the map, Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 8 doesn’t feature as many major alterations as were expected given the cataclysmic alien takeover last season. Its various locations are still left standing, including Coral Castle, which appears to have been turned back to normal this time around.

However, the map has also brought with it the return of The Cube, also lovingly referred to as Kevin by Fortnite players, which will now appear in the arena for players to tinker with. The Cube is associated with The Sideways in some way, so expect to learn more as Chapter 2 Season 8 progresses.
