Call of Duty Vanguard Latency Variation fix

Call of Duty: Vanguard Latency Variation fix

Some Call of Duty: Vanguard players are experiencing issues with latency variation, which can have a negative effect on the game. Most gamers know the difference between high and low latency, but what happens when there’s a variation between the two? We’ll explain latency variation, how it affects Call of Duty: Vanguard, and how to fix it below.

How to fix latency variation in Call of Duty: Vanguard

Call of Duty Vanguard Latency Variation issue fix

The latency variation message will pop up in Call of Duty: Vanguard when a player’s ping (not that ping) isn’t steady. If players are bouncing between high and low ping, the variation can cause significant issues (like packet bursts). Players need to level out their ping to either stay high or (preferably) low to fix it.

Every player has a different ping, and the game uses this to calculate how their actions affect other players and vice-versa. Unfortunately, when this number isn’t steady, it can cause issues like rubber-banding because the server can’t make accurate calculations. So, to fix the latency variation error in Call of Duty: Vanguard, users need to find out what’s causing the issue.

The chances for latency variation to occur go up the further a player is from the game’s servers. So, the easiest fix for the issue is to make sure that the game is connecting to the nearest servers. Call of Duty titles usually do this automatically, but those using a VPN or a mobile connection might find that the game isn’t connecting to the geographically closest server.

There are some other things that might cause latency variation as well. For example, if there are devices downloading files or streaming video on the same network as the machine a user is playing Call of Duty: Vanguard on, it could cause ping to vary rapidly.

If correcting the above issues doesn’t work, the problem could be on Activision’s side. Other than the standard fixes of restarting the modem and router, the best thing to do about this issue might be just to have patience and wait for server conditions to improve.
