What If? episode 5 is a zombie-infested take on the events of Infinity War, with Spider-Man leading a band of heroes through the undead apocalypse. With the majority of the Avengers having been infected, it’s up to Spidey to save the day: but is Tom Holland the Spider-Man voice actor in episode 5?
Does Tom Holland voice Spider-Man in What If? episode 5?
Tom Holland does not return to Spider-Man in What If? episode 5, with the MCU actor not reprising his role for the Disney Plus animated series. The voice actor is actually Hudson Thames, portraying the character for the first time.
This could be for a couple of reasons; the most likely is contract issues between Marvel and Sony, given that Spider-Man is a Sony property that, due to agreements between the two companies, has been able to appear in MCU films such as Endgame. The other is that Tom Holland’s filming of Spider-Man: No Way Home may have caused him to be unavailable for What If? episode 5, given that the sequel is set to release this year.
Typically in What If?, when an actor is unavailable to provide the voice for their role, it is instead given to a voice actor who previously portrayed the character in other works, as was the case with Iron Man in a previous episode. However, Hudson Thames has never portrayed the web-slinger before, so this potentially means that the US actor — who previously starred in Mad Men, I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson, and Malibu Country — could take on the role of Spider-Man in the future.
With What If? episode 5 now over, viewers are inevitably looking towards episode 6 and what spoilers it may have to offer. Many are also wondering if What If? episode 5 has a secret post-credits scene, as is typical Marvel fashion.
