Shang Chi 2

Shang-Chi 2: Will there be a The Ten Rings Disney Plus show or movie?

Will there be a Shang-Chi 2? How about a The Ten Rings movie or a Disney Plus show spin-off? The Shang-Chi end credits scene teases an exciting possible future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in its Phase 4, but what about a possible Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel or follow-up? Maybe the movie’s ending isn’t teasing a sequel at all, but The Ten Rings Disney Plus series instead? Could that actually happen?

Spoilers follow!

Will there be a Shang-Chi 2 or a Ten Rings movie?

Shang Chi 2

The final post-credits scene and ending of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings directly sets up some sort of follow-up, which may very well be based on the new The Ten Rings organization under Shang-Chi’s sister Xu Xialing instead of a direct Shang-Chi 2 sequel.

During the ending of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Shang-Chi is forced to kill his father Xu Wenwu/The Mandarin, the head of the centuries-old Ten Rings organization. This leaves a power vacuum in the shadowy criminal group. Throughout the movie, Shang-Chi’s sister Xialing mentions she knew she wouldn’t get given her father’s empire, so she would have to make her own. Instead, the very final end credits scene of the movie reveals that Xialing has indeed taken over the Ten Rings empire, despite Shang-Chi holding on to the magical Rings themselves.

The most interesting part comes right at the very end of the scene, as an actual message appears saying “the Ten Rings will return.” This is very similar to how the very end of the Loki Disney Plus series announced a Season 2 of the show in the final episode, but this is the first time a message like this has appeared in a Marvel movie. It could simply be for a Shang-Chi 2, but the message specifically promises more on The Ten Rings instead — a movie might be a bit much, but a Disney Plus spin-off would be perfect. Presumably Disney will announce more on this teaser soon.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is out in theaters now.
