Pokemon Unite Blastoise: Moveset and how to unlock

The latest Pokemon to arrive in Pokemon Unite is Blastoise, the starter water-type Pokemon. It was added to the game in an update released today (September 1), joining Charizard and Venusaur to unite all Generation 1 starter Pokemon. If you’re looking for the details on Blastoise, look no further. We’ve got the Pokemon Unite Blastoise Moveset, as well as how to unlock the fighter.

Pokemon Unite Blastoise Moveset

As with all Pokemon in Unite, the moveset varies based on which evolution you’re currently using.

Squirtle Moveset

At the start of a match, you’ll play as Squirtle. It has the ranged attack Water Gun, and the dash attack Skull Bash. Once you reach Level 5, it’ll evolve to Wartortle, with Hydro Pump as its ranged attack, and Water Sprout as its area attack. This is different to Squirtle’s dash attack, as it hits all targets in a given area, rather than just one enemy.

Wartortle Moveset

At Level 7, you’re given the chance to add one new move to Wartortle’s moveset – either the dash move Surf, or the buff attack Rapid Spin. You can only pick one of these, so choose based on your playstyle. If you prefer zipping around the arena, Surf is a better move, but if you’re on the front line of battle, Rapid Spin will deal more damage.

Blastoise Moveset

Lastly, at Level 9 you’ll finally evolve into Blastoise. It’ll retain the same moveset as Wartortle before it – so either Hydro Pump, Water Sprout, Surf, or Rapid Spin. However, you’ll also unlock its Unite Move, called Hydro Typhoon. It’s a torrent of water that’ll blast any opponents in your way, and is Blastoise’s most powerful move.

How to unlock Blastoise in Pokemon Unite

Pokemon Unite Blastoise Moveset

As with all characters in Pokemon Unite, you can unlock Blastoise from the Unite Battle Committee store. To purchase the Blastoise license, it’ll cost 8,000 Aeos Coins, or 460 Aeos Gems. You get coins from completing objectives and participating in events, whereas Aeos Gems cost real-life money. If you don’t want to fork out real cash, then saving up Aeos Coins is your best bet.
