During the Dead Space remake development stream, we got a few details about changes coming to the game. While it looks as though Motive will remain largely faithful to the source material, there will be new content added to fill out the story and make the experience more immersive. Fans have been wondering if one of these additions will be voicing Issac. He was more integrated into the story in the second and third games, but Issac was a silent protagonist in the original. So, will Issac get a voice actor in the Dead Space remake?
What voice actor will play Issac in the Dead Space remake?
A significant change coming with the Dead Space remake is that Issac will have full voice acting, just like he did in Dead Space 2 and 3. In fact, Gunner Wright will be returning to provide the voice of Issac in the Dead Space remake.
While Dead Space is a critically acclaimed title, one criticism it faced was that Issac plays a passive role in the story. He’s there to find his girlfriend, Nicole but doesn’t express a ton of urgency when he gets there. This was changed in later entries in the series, and in Dead Space 2 and 3, he’s fully-voiced and frequently comments on the situation at hand.
It’ll be interesting to see the impact of having Issac voiced in the Dead Space remake on the game’s narrative. For the most part, the original game has Kendra, Hammond, and others filling out the plot details while Issac does all the work. The devs revealed previously that some content cut from the original game will be included as well, which might lead to a much different trip through the bowels of the Ishimura.
No release date for the Dead Space remake has been set yet, and what we saw in the stream was very early work. Hopefully, we’ll get a chance to see it in the next couple of years.
