Death Stranding Director's Cut Jetpack

Death Stranding Director’s Cut gives Sam jetpack legs and a host of other new mobility options

Death Stranding Director’s Cut is coming next month, and with it comes some incredible new items that will drastically improve Sam’s mobility. In the Gamescom 2021 trailer, we saw that Death Stranding will be getting a jetpack (or at least an item that functions like one) in the form of the Evolved Stabilizers. We also got to see the new cargo catapults and jump ramps, which will make the trek across the former US a lot easier.

So far, it’s been revealed that Death Stranding will add new weapons, structures, and items to Sam’s arsenal. In particular, the Evolved Stabilizers stand out as being a piece of gear that will make traversing the game’s rocky terrain a lot easier.

The trailer shows that the Evolved Stabilizers allow Sam to leap from practically any height and use jets in the exoskeleton to slow his descent and land safely. Those who played the original version know the pain of accidentally stumbling down a cliff face and losing all their cargo, something which this new mobility option will prevent.

We also got to see the mechanics behind the Cargo Catapult. This structure will allow Sam to launch cargo over a long distance. Instead of shouldering the burden of a heavy stack of boxes, Sam can yeet them near his destination, which can bypass rough terrain.

The Buddy Bot got highlighted as well. The base game included the ability to send out cargo bots to make automated deliveries, and with Death Stranding Director’s Cut, Sam gets one to help him out on his mission. The little fellow can carry cargo for you, or Sam can climb on its back and take a siesta while the bot does all the heavy lifting.

We’ll get to check out all these new items for ourselves when Death Stranding Director’s Cut launches on PS4 and PS5 on September 24, 2021 (with a PC release possibly coming later).
