Sea of Thieves: How to unlock Borderlands Mayhem ship set

The fun-filled chaos of Borderlands is making its way into Sea of Thieves. As revealed in today’s Xbox Gamescom stream, the new Mayhem ship set is arriving in Sea of Thieves as part of a limited-time event. Best of all, worthy pirates can unlock the Borderlands ship simply by playing the game. Here’s everything you need to know.

The Borderlands ship in Sea of Thieves is offered as a Making Mayhem event reward. All you need to do to unlock the Mayhem ship set is to earn Favour while the event is active between August 24 and September 7.

Yes, the news is good for particular pirates keen on collecting unique vessels. The Borderlands Mayhem is certainly a looker. It may not please purists, but there’s no chance it will go unnoticed. In fact, this ship may be among the most vibrant we’ve seen since the Paradise Garden set offered through the Viva Pinata cross-promotion.

Even better, like other promotional ships, the Borderlands ship is entirely free. All you’ll need to do to get your own is head over to an outpost. There you’ll need to speak with Larinna of the Bilge Rats. She’ll point you in the direction of the challenges you must complete to unlock the ship, eventually earning enough Favour to unlock each piece of the set.

The only catch is that this offer won’t last forever. The Making Mayhem event is meant to loosely correlate with Gamescom 2021, so the chance to earn the Borderlands ship will disappear after September 7.

To unlock the Borderlands ship in Sea of Thieves, simply speak to Larinna at any outpost. She’ll get you set up with the challenges to complete and Favour to earn to unlock each piece of the Mayhem ship set.

Loads of players are likely jumping in-game to earn this rare booty, so fair warning, you might encounter the ‘Sorry, just daydreaming’ error. Otherwise, you may be interested in checking out our guide in what to do if Plunder Pass rewards aren’t unlocking.
