After starting The Ascent, some players are finding themselves unable to progress almost straight away. Users are getting stuck on the first mission when they approach a yellow door, that seemingly won’t budge. So, how can players get past the yellow barrier in The Ascent’s Arcology Blues prologue level? Here’s the lowdown on hacking the door to progress on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC (Windows 10 and Steam).
The Ascent First Mission Guide: How to get past the yellow barrier
Players must hack the terminal beside the locked yellow door in The Ascent to proceed through the first mission. Simply hold down the “C” key on PC or the “Y” button on Xbox to get past the yellow barrier in the Arcology Blues prologue level.
There is an in-game tutorial explaining the hacking mechanic (see above), though it’s easy to understand why this confusion occurs. Similar barriers with matching terminals appear earlier in the first level, each carrying a button prompt. The interaction button is different from the hacking button, so players must back peddle on what the previous tutorials have taught them.
Lots of people assume that there’s a glitch when no button prompt appears on the hackable barrier in The Ascent. In reality, this is intentional and users must simply engage with a different gameplay mechanic. Once the yellow prologue door opens as a result of the hack, players can progress freely through the campaign.
Now that The Ascent issue getting players stuck on the first mission is taken care of, why not check out some additional guides? Here’s how to enable ray-tracing and improve technical performance. It’s also worth being mindful of the cosmetics deletion bug and online multiplayer problem.
In other news, there’s some brand-new New Pokemon Snap DLC. It’s a free update, just like today’s Pokemon Unite patch that nerfs an OP character.
