Tesla accepting Dogecoin

Is Tesla accepting Dogecoin?

Dogecoin (DOGE) is a leading cryptocurrency, which makes it pretty legitimate — meme or not. As a result, it’s getting a lot of recognition and investors are looking to spend it in increasingly conventional ways. One of these ways is on a new car, or more specifically, a Tesla model vehicle. But, is Tesla accepting Dogecoin? Here’s the latest on Elon Musk’s company accepting crypto payments in DOGE.

Can you buy a Tesla with Dogecoin (DOGE)?

Tesla CEO Elon Musk seems open to accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) cryptocurrency as payment. Customers are also keen to buy cars using DOGE, so Tesla vehicles could soon be purchasable with meme crypto.

Earlier this year, Musk polled almost 4 million people via Twitter. A staggering 78% would like to see Tesla accept Dogecoin as payment, which is a pretty definitive vote. It isn’t yet clear if the company is acting on the result of the poll, though, judging by the overwhelmingly positive response, it could be a mistake not to.

Elon Musk is an advocate of Dogecoin, just days ago sharing a tweet asserting its legitimacy. With DOGE clearly still on the billionaire’s mind, the implementation of a Tesla payment method could already be underway. It’s only possible to speculate on that for now, though with Amazon reportedly working on a crypto checkout method Tesla likely doesn’t want to be left behind.

The Dogecoin developers are currently collaborating with the Ethereum (ETH) team. Together, the two groups are launching a DOGE-ETH bridge that’ll make more rapid transactions possible. This could be beneficial for both camps, though it comes during a time of uncertainty for meme crypto. Some Asian countries are banning meme cryptocurrencies, which has many US investors worrying about a potential Dogecoin ban.

Although there’s a chance that Tesla will accept DOGE in the future, it probably won’t take Daddy Doge or MiniDoge anytime soon.
