If you focus on heavy attacks and using firebombs, you should be able to take down the Devourer without too much trouble. The first thing you need to know is that despite being only the second monster you’ll fight in the game, the Devourer is a much harder adversary than the first ghoul. Their health is greatly increased, and they can dish out much more damage than your average monster. Therefore, you need to be prepared.

Before the battle, your mentor will ask if you want to undertake any studies – basically, a tutorial. If you opt not to, it’ll be a slightly more difficult fight. The bottom line is that despite being a fearsome beast, the Devourer has some key weaknesses. Mainly, they can’t stand silver swords and fire. You need to bear that in mind when fighting it, by equipping your firebombs to deal out a good amount of damage mid-battle.

Fast slashes on your screen will ensure you’re executing heavy attacks, which will take a good lump out of the beast’s health. Combine that with a fire bomb – which you must equip on the inventory menu before starting the fight – and you should take down the Devourer with relative ease. You can also use your Basic oil, which increases melee damage by 33%. It’s also a good idea to equip the Kaer Morhen Steel Sword. While it’s not a stronger weapon, it does get you more XP per kill. If you can do all this, the Devourer should go down pretty easily.

In other news, the cast for the much-anticipated Injustice DC movie is here – and it ditches much of the game’s voice cast. We’ve also got news on the Pokemon Unite battle pass – which comes complete with a hoodie for Pikachu.
