Zelda Skyward Sword: How to get the Clawshot and Hookshot

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Clawshot is one of the most useful items in the game, so many players will want to collect it as soon as possible. It’s the Skyward Sword Hookshot equivalent, and any Zelda fans will know how useful the Hookshot is. Here’s where and when to get the Skyward Sword HD Clawshots, as well as what Link needs to do to unlock them.

Where is the Zelda Skyward Sword Clawshot?

Skyward Sword HD Clawshot

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Clawshots can be found in The Silent Realm – Lanayru Desert about halfway through the game. Link will need to head into this version of The Silent Realm and collect a load of glowing Tears to add to his Spirit Vessel, much like the previous Silent Realm in Faron Woods. Upon completion, Link will be rewarded with the Clawshots.

To find the Silent Realm entrance, first head to Lanayru Desert and warp to the North Desert Bird Statue. Use Link’s dowsing ability to find the glowing area with the butterflies, then strum the harp at the right time to make the marker appear. Stab Link’s sword into this to warp him to Nayru’s Silent Realm.

There are 15 Tears Link needs to collect in order to fill up the Spirit Vessel and get the Clawshots. There is a time limit, but it will get refilled every time the player collects a Tear. Some Tears can be collected by moving Mine Carts or knocking over trees, but watch out for the enemies. There are also seven Dusk Relics, but they don’t help with collecting the Clawshots, nor do they reset the countdown.

Successfully collect all 15 Tears and Link will get the Clawshots! Sadly, unlike the Hookshot in other Zelda games, they can’t be used to collect items from far away or attack, but as there are two Link can hang off grapple points and still use them.
