What is GTA Online’s next DLC in 2021?

Grand Theft Auto 5 remains one of the hottest video games around largely due to the popularity of GTA Online. Rockstar’s ever-evolving online crime-fest gets frequent updates that introduce new gameplay modes, weapons, vehicles, and more. However, it’s been a while since we’ve heard anything about the next GTA Online DLC. What does Rockstar have planned for the rest of 2021?

What is the next GTA Online DLC in 2021?

According to Rockstar Games, the next update to GTA Online will introduce the Deadline mode, offering seven new arenas designed around the Shotaro bike. It’s not DLC, but it will serve to offer a few new activities. The update will also expand Survival mode to new locations throughout Blaine County and Los Santos.

Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on when the latest update will land. And, of course, there’s no confirmation at all of any upcoming DLC. Chances are good that the developers are instead hard at work porting GTAV and GTA Online to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. For those keeping count at home, Rockstar is also working on standalone versions of GTA Online.

With that said, we do know that Rockstar is looking into developing more solo-oriented content for GTA Online. Speaking to GQ Magazine UK last year, Rockstar design director Scott Butchard said the studio wants to “respect teams and players who want to play co-op [but] still allow solo players to get just as valid an experience.”

The story is about the same as ever. New updates are planned for GTA Online, but none substantial enough to be called DLC. The Deadline mode and a Survival expansion are still due out in 2021, but that’s all we know about so far. Vehicles and weapons come and go frequently, of course, so be sure to stack cash fast while you can. Otherwise, we’ll be hearing more about the current-gen ports of GTAV before the end of the year.
