Blood-soaked hack-and-slash action has returned in Chivalry 2, the latest release from Torn Banner studios. Players familiar with the previous game will likely already be aware of the game’s basic factions. However, new players are being faced with a choice between the Agatha Knights and the Mason Order. What’s the difference between these two factions, and how does the decision affect gameplay? Read on to find out.
Chivalry 2: Should you pick Agatha or Mason?
The choice between the Agatha Knights and the Mason Order in Chivalry 2 has no effect on gameplay. You can choose any faction you like at any time without any consequences. Feel free to pick whichever side you thinks look best.
In other words, the choice is basically cosmetic. Members of the Agatha Knights wear blue, while the Mason Order members wear red. Each faction also has its own set of audio and dialog clips, but that’s about it.
Otherwise, the main differences between the two factions comes down to the game’s story. The Agatha Knights are devoutly religious and dedicated to the royal bloodline. They’re basically the good guys, or so they think — the belief is that their cause is just.
The Mason Order, on the other hand, believe in leadership through power. They’re peasants-become-warriors, and they fight in order to restore the strength the land of Agatha was once known for. It was the Mason Order that instigated the First Civil War that formed the major conflict in the original Chivalry.
Choosing between the Agatha Knights and the Mason Order in Chivalry 2 is as easy as choosing between red and blue. The decision makes no difference on gameplay, so feel free to pick whichever faction you like best. While you mull over the decision, be sure to check the new maps and features outlined in the Chivalry 2 DLC roadmap.
