After many years of waiting, fans finally have their hands on Chivalry 2. The latest first-person hack-and-slash from Torn Banner studios hits the ground running with blood-soaked action and tense multiplayer battles. But what does it have in store for more solo-oriented players? Is there a Chivalry 2 single-player mode, or any sort of offline campaign mode?
Does Chivalry 2 have a single-player mode?
Chivalry 2 does not have a single-player campaign mode. The bulk of the game is centered around online multiplayer combat. However, Chivalry 2 does feature a single-player practice mode that can be played offline.
In other words, Chivalry 2 is not really designed as a single-player experience. Instead, its online multiplayer supports large-scale battles of up to 64 players. Its first-person slashing combat is focused around the Agatha Knights and the Mason Order, where players of opposing factions fight under various rule sets.
Primarily, the game includes Team Deathmatch, a multiplayer staple where it’s every player for themselves. It also features Team Objective maps, which offer varying goals and win conditions. For example, maps could have you defending a castle under siege, or task you with breaking in to eliminate the opponent king.
Still, there’s not really much on offer for players who don’t enjoy multiplayer action. The only way to play Chivalry 2 completely solo is to jump into practice mode offline. It’s a good way to learn the ropes, but it’s not exactly the height of excitement.
Sorry, solo gamers: Chivalry 2 does not include a single-player campaign. If you want to play solo or offline, your only option is the game’s practice mode. Otherwise, the game is entirely focused on online multiplayer action.
Chivalry 2 is available now as an Epic Games Store exclusive on PC. Fans who prefer to pick the game up on Steam will have to wait until the one-year timed exclusivity deal ends in June 2022.
