Character Guide
Cadence is the protagonist of Crypt of the NecroDancer, but the game includes additional characters that can be unlocked by playing the game more or completing certain tasks.
Cadence
- Unlock: N/A (Default)
- Starts with: Dagger
- Health: 3 hearts
Bard
- Unlock: N/A
- Starts with: Dagger
- Health: 2 hearts
- Does not need to move with the beat.
Eli
- Unlock: Beat Zone 1
- Starts with: Infinite Bombs, Nazar Charm
- Health: 3 hearts
- No weapons, and gold walls don't give coins.
Dove
- Unlock: Beat Zone 2
- Starts with: Crystal Shovel, Flower, Ring of Peace
- Health: 3 hearts
- Cannot kill enemies, only confuses them with the Flower. No boss fights.
Monk
- Unlock: Beat Zone 3
- Starts with: Dagger, Blood Shovel
- Health: 2 hearts
- Dies if he picks up gold. Score determined by gold ignored.
Bolt
- Unlock: Beat "All Zones" with Monk
- Starts with: Spear, Nazar Charm
- Health: 3 hearts
- Speed x2 for Bolt and enemies.
Melody
- Unlock: Beat Zone 4 with Cadence
- Starts with: Golden Lute
- Health: 2 hearts
- Picking up other weapons kills Melody.
Dorian
- Unlock: Defeat the Dead Ringer with Cadence
- Starts with: Dagger, Pickaxe, Compass, Boots of Leaping, Ring of Might, Dorian's Platemail
- Health: 4 hearts
Aria
- Unlock: Beat Zone 4 with Melody
- Starts with: Dagger, Nazar Charm, Potion
- Health: 1 heart
- Can only use a dagger, dies if she misses a beat, and goes through zones in reverse.
Coda
- Unlock: Beat "All Characters" mode
- Starts with: Dagger, Nazar Charm
- Health: 1 heart
- A combination of Aria, Bolt, and Monk's skills
