How to get the Barbarian Slayer skin in Doom Eternal

The Doom Eternal Barbarian Slayer skin is likely to be one divisive skin as it is so unlike the other cosmetics in the game. But it isn’t just given to all players and might confound those who don’t have The Ancient Gods Part 2 or the latest update. Here’s how to get the Barbarian Slayer skin in Doom Eternal.

Doom Eternal Barbarian Slayer skin: How to get

How to get the Barbarian Slayer skin in Doom Eternal

To get the Barbarian Slayer skin in Doom Eternal, players have to either purchase The Ancient Gods Part 2 or the Year One Pass (the game’s season pass). Once purchased, the Barbarian Slayer Master Collection will be instantly unlocked for players to work through. Leveling it up with unlock additional cosmetics like podiums, the two other alternate Barbarian skins, player icons, and more.

To equip the skin, just go into the customize tab where all the other Slayer skins are. This will also let players track their progress on the Master Collection, but it is easier to go to the Events tab for that.

This is currently the only way to obtain the Barbarian Slayer skin in Doom Eternal. Id has not made this skin unlockable for owners of the base game. And it is unlikely the team will change this stance, given its previously established pattern. The Makyr skin from the first Ancient Gods never made it outside of that pass, locking out those with the vanilla game out.

Doom Eternal Gold Barbarian Slayer skin: How to get

There is also a gold variant of the Barbarian skin. However, this one takes some work to get. Players can only get this shiny skin by beating the Extra Lives mode with more than five lives. This also unlocks the “Life, Die, Reload” trophy or achievement.

There are other skins also locked to The Ancient Gods Part 2, but players have to earn those through gameplay. They are the World Spear, Survivor, and Hellforged skins. Much like the first episode, this trio of costumes is unlockable through beating the second wave in each Escalation Encounter. There is one in every level.
