Final-Fantasy-7-Remake-Yuffie-DLC-PS4

Will the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Yuffie DLC get a PS4 release?

The announcement of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade at State of Play was a pleasant surprise. However, it left some confusion as to whether the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Yuffie DLC will be available on PS4 or not. Those who own the PS4 version are getting a free upgrade to PS5, but does that include the new chapter?

Will the Yuffie Chapter of Final Fantasy 7 Remake release on PS4?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Yuffie DLC PS4 2

The situation with the Yuffie DLC coming with Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is complicated. Essentially, it’s best to think of everything that was announced at State of Play as being PS5-only. Square hasn’t announced that anything about the PS4 version of the game is getting an upgrade, and until we hear something different, it’s safe to assume the Yuffie DLC is exclusive to PS5.

To make matters more confusing, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake upgrade for PS4 copies will allow owners to upgrade to the PS5 version of the game. However, those who upgrade will have to purchase the Yuffie DLC separately, but it’s included for those who buy the PS5 copy directly. To restate, those who own the game on PS4 will get all the graphic and quality upgrades on PS5 for free but have to purchase the new content.

We can only speculate as to why Square Enix isn’t making the Yuffie DLC available for the PS4 version of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. While the game was excellent, it was obviously held back by the now eight-year-old hardware, as was evident by Level of Detail issues we noted in our review. The studio may be ready to move on to newer hardware instead of having to downgrade content for the PS4. This is an unfortunate decision since the PS5 continues to see stock shortages. However, this problem might be rectified by the time Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade releases on June 10, 2021.
