Surviving the world of Valheim requires making the most out of scarce resources. And, like in other survival games, it will occasionally be necessary to repair your tools. While the process of repairing items and weapons is straightforward, the game doesn’t really give much information on how it works. Fortunately, we’re here to help.
How to repair tools and items in Valheim
To repair tools and other items in Valheim, you first need to build a workbench. Once built, you can interact with the workbench and select the hammer icon to automatically repair tools such as your hammer or pickaxe.
Building a workbench is an absolute necessity for new players. You’ll need to collect ten wood in order to craft one, and it must be placed indoors. That means you’ll only be able to use a workbench inside a structure with a roof overhead. If you place it outside, you won’t be able to interact with it.
Once crafted and properly placed, the workbench will allow you to repair tools, weapons, and other items. You only need to select the hammer icon on the left to begin a repair. However, you should note that repairs are done at random. At the time of writing, there’s no way to repair specific tools or items.
Still, repairing items doesn’t require any materials whatsoever. As such, you only need to keep selecting the hammer icon to repair all of your tools back to perfect condition. Since there’s no cost, you may as well repeat the process until all of your items are back in tip-top shape.
That’s all there is to it. You can repair tools, weapons, and other items in Valheim by using the workbench. Be sure to place it indoors, then all you need to do is select the hammer icon to repair all of your items. For more basic how-to tips, be sure to check out our Valheim beginner’s guide.
