Monster Hunter Rise is coming to Nintendo Switch in March, but PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S owners want to know if the game will see a release date on those platforms. Monster Hunter Rise is considered a main series title, unlike the previous Switch release, Monster Hunter Generations (Monster Hunter X in Japan). The last main title, Monster Hunter World, saw a wide release. So, fans are hoping the newest game will come to platforms other than Switch.
Will Monster Hunter Rise release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S?
Monster Hunter Rise may see a release date on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. We know the game will come to Switch first, and Capcom hasn’t commented on further releases, However, a leak late last year allegedly confirmed that Monster Hunter Rise will be coming to PC after a nine-month exclusivity period on the Switch.
If Monster Hunter Rise releases on PC, there’s a good chance it will come to other platforms as well. The PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S all share the x64 instruction set used by PCs, so porting it to consoles shouldn’t require a separate development pipeline. The big question is whether Capcom will bring the game to previous-gen consoles or focus on current-gen consoles. If the leak is accurate, it won’t come to other platforms until 2022 at the earliest, so PS4 and Xbox One releases may not be in the cards.
Fans should take all this with a grain of salt. The only thing we know for sure is that Monster Hunter Rise will release on Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021. Until Capcom makes an official announcement, we have to assume that’s the only platform on which the game will be available. However, given Monster Hunter World‘s success, it’s doubtful that Capcom wouldn’t want to tap into that fanbase.
