Cyberpunk 2077 console ray tracing

Cyberpunk 2077 Console Ray Tracing | PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One support

Cyberpunk 2077 is a sprawling, gorgeous game. It achieves this to varying degrees of success depending on where users play it, and one of the big differentiating factors is ray tracing. This graphics setting gives the game more realistic lighting to help bring its scenes to life on PC, but is there Cyberpunk 2077 console ray tracing? Here’s the need-to-know on ray tracing in the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S versions of CD Projekt RED’s new RPG.

Does Cyberpunk 2077 have ray tracing on PS4 and PS5?

Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 and PS5 ray tracing

Players have been anticipating Cyberpunk for several years now, so naturally, they want to see the game at its best. Enabling ray tracing is a surefire way to do so, though it isn’t always possible on Sony’s PlayStation platforms.

Cyberpunk 2077 PS4 ray tracing

Cyberpunk 2077 boasts a variety of advanced visual effects on PS4 and PS4 Pro. Neither machine features ray tracing at launch, though it is possible that developer CDPR could implement support via a future game update.

Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 ray tracing

The PS5 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is likely to feature ray tracing. CDPR plans to release the next-gen version of Cyberpunk next year in 2021, which may leverage the ray tracing technology already found within the PC version.

With the game’s ray tracing attracting specific praise, CD Projekt will almost certainly want to include it and showcase the upgraded console version of Cyberpunk 2077 at its best.

Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox One ray tracing

Cyberpunk 2077 squeezes a lot of graphical power from the Xbox One and Xbox One X, considering its immense scale. Xbox One doesn’t feature ray tracing support at launch, but a real-time lighting solution could be added to the game courtesy of a future patch.

Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox Series X|S ray tracing

The dedicated Xbox Series X version of Cyberpunk 2077 should feature a ray tracing option. Ray tracing may be exclusive to a “Quality” visual preset, though the console is more than capable of handling real-time lighting effects.

Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Series S, the weaker of the next-gen Xbox hardware, might have a harder time. CDPR hasn’t announced anything official yet, so stay tuned for updates on Cyberpunk Xbox Series S ray tracing.
