Are Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare 2019 in the same universe and timeline? Here’s the need-to-know information. (Warning: Spoilers ahead!)

Are Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare 2019 in the same universe and timeline?

Black Ops Cold War x Modern Warfare 2019

Though Black Ops Cold War is set in the 80s and Modern Warfare is set in modern times, there is room for a crossover. Events and characters in Black Ops Cold War could grow to become big villains in the Modern Warfare games.

Yes, Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare 2019 are in the same universe and timeline.

At least, that appears to be the case. There isn’t yet official confirmation.

The main link between the two games is the character Zakhaev. Veteran fans of the franchise will recognize the name from the original Modern Warfare trilogy, and Warzone players will have heard the name, too.

Why is Zakhaev in Black Ops Cold War?

In Black Ops Cold War, Zakhaev is assisting the Russian government. Of course, he likely has ulterior motives and is worming his way into manipulating the higher powers.

It’s unlikely that Zakhaev has been added to the campaign as a simple nod to Modern Warfare, as that would lead to a lot of confusion. Instead, it’s much more likely that this Zakhaev will pop up in a Modern Warfare sequel and in Warzone, albeit as an older, more powerful character.

There will be more crossovers in the Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Warzone release. Woods will encounter Price and Adler will encounter Ghost. That will surely make for some entertaining battles!

The latest Black Ops Cold War update added a Hardcore Nuketown playlist, while also fixing bugs. Read the full list of patch notes here.

With Nuketown now in Black Ops Cold War, surely it’s only a matter of time before Firing Range, Summit, and Jungle are also added? Here’s the need-to-know about old maps.
