Assassin’s Creed Valhalla screen tearing | How to fix

The latest generation of gaming consoles has arrived, giving players high-resolution visuals and high refresh rates. However, certain Assassin’s Creed Valhalla players have reported constant problems with screen tearing. This visual effect is jarring, and can be downright distracting. Luckily, there are a few things you can to do fix screen tearing in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

How to fix screen tearing in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

Screen tearing is a common issue in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, especially on the Xbox Series X|S. However, players have also reported screen tearing on PS4 and Xbox One. Until Ubisoft issues a patch, the only fix seems to be running the game with V-sync or variable refresh rate (VRR) enabled.

Because so many players use different hardware and settings, screen tearing isn’t always present. Those who reported the issue on the Ubisoft forums seem to be running the game on the Series X|S without a display that supports VRR. If your TV or monitor supports variable refresh rate, make sure it’s turned on. That should fix the problem.

Otherwise, you should try running the game at 60hz. Even though the Xbox Series X|S hardware supports higher refresh rates, keeping it locked to 60hz seems to push the game to run at 60 frames per second. This is a more stable number, so tearing should be reduced. Running it at 30hz/30fps should fix the problem entirely.

If that doesn’t work, the only solution is to wait for Ubisoft to issue a patch. This is clearly an issue with the software, especially considering how many players have reported screen tearing so far. Regardless of VRR or V-sync, a proper patch should remove the problem for most players across all hardware.

Unfortunately, this will leave you waiting. For the time being, screen tearing in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can only be reduced by enabling VRR, V-Sync, or dropping the game’s refresh rate/framerate. Try those out, and then wait as patiently as possible for Ubisoft to fix the issue with a patch.
