How to beat Odin in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

How to beat Odin in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

If players don’t know how to beat Odin in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, they’ll be getting slashed and stabbed by the all-father in an endless cycle at the end of the game. He will even drag Eivor back to him if they try to run away. But he is beatable if players know how to do it. Here’s how to get past Odin in ACV.

How to defeat Odin in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

To defeat Odin, players will have to unequip their weapon. Normal weapons don’t damage him.

Hacking and slashing at the one-eyed god does not do anything. The game wants players to run away but Odin grabs them and pulls them back, as shown in the above picture.

To unequip the axe, pause the game and go into the inventory screen. Hover the cursor over the axe in Eivor’s main hand, the weapon icon in the lower left, like shown in the above picture.

Press the confirm button axe to go into the second screen. Then press the confirm button again to unequip it. If done correctly, both weapon slots will have fists as the icon to show that Eivor is unequipped.

Sometimes the game will be funky, gray out the option, and not let the player unequip the axe. Just exit the pause menu, stand still, and pause the game again. Some animations cancel the ability to switch weapons in the pause menu so try to be still when pausing the game.

Once the player has unequipped their weapon, they will now be able to escape and must run toward Sigurd and the staircase off in the distance. Do not turn back and look at Odin or try to punch him to death with Eivor’s bare fists. Just run to the staircase to finish the fight and get to end of the Prophecy storyline.

That’s the end of this storyline, but there are plenty more things to do in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Thor’s Hammer is a worthy weapon for any warrior, so use this guide to find it.

Lag and stutter can stop an ACV playthrough in its tracks. Here’s how to improve the game’s frame-rate.

In the Game Revolution Assassin’s Creed Valhalla review, the new AC title was described as “dull and par for the Norse.”
