How to get the Cleaver in Call of Duty: Warzone

Halloween festivities have reached Call of Duty: Warzone. The Haunting of Verdansk event offers two classic horror villains as well as a variety of new weapons, including the Cleaver. This blood-stained knife is available to find as a Legendary blueprint, but you’ll have to search the depths of the Gulag to claim it.

Call of Duty: Warzone - How to get the Cleaver

To get the Cleaver in Warzone, you’ll need to search through crates at the Gulag. Each box is either a Trick or a Treat, and you need to find one that’s a Treat. After enough searching, you’ll eventually get the Cleaver blueprint.

As with many things in Warzone, this is easier said than done. The contents of each crate in the Gulag Prison is randomized, so there’s no way of knowing its specific location. Plus, the Gulag you need to search is not the one you’ll see after you die. Instead, it’s part of the Zordaya Prison Complex, located in the farthest southeastern reaches of Verdansk.

That means your best bet to find the Cleaver is to drop straight on top of the Prison and begin searching. However, this is a very popular place to drop already. Given the Trick or Treat system, it’s even more popular. That means you should expect heavy resistance in the area. Everyone else wants to get the new weapon too, after all.

Otherwise, things are fairly simple. If you’re able to clear out the area and check every crate, you should have no problem finding the Cleaver blueprint. You’ll know you’ve found the right one when you see a message saying “Gulag loot found.”

After that, you can equip it as your melee weapon by going to your loadout. Check out your Combat Knife, then select the Armory. There you’ll be able to find and equip your newest blueprint.
