How to get Rocket League for free

If you’re looking to play the game once it has gone free-to-play, you’ll be needing to know how to get Rocket League for free. Since its acquisition by Epic Games, Pysonix has decided to make its soccar game free for everyone on every platform. Read on to find out the answer “is Rocket League free forever?”

Discover below not only how to download the game for free, but also to know how long will Rocket League be free-to-play.

Simply search for Rocket League on your console’s digital store or head to the Epic Games Store on PC and find it there. Once you have located Rocket League on your PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and/or PC (via Epic Games Store), simply choose to download the game. Downloading Rocket League from September 23, 2020, at 3 PM UTC, on all of its supported platforms, won’t cost you a single penny, no matter where you live.

As an added bonus, you won’t need PlayStation Plus or a Nintendo Switch Online membership to play the game online on those respective platforms. Unfortunately, you will still need to be an active Xbox Live Gold subscriber to play Rocket League online on Xbox One. As another gentle reminder, too, Rocket League is now only available through the Epic Games Store on PC. Steam owners before the switch to free-to-play, however, can still play the game with everyone else and receive updates.

Is Rocket League free forever?

Now that Rocket League is free-to-play, it should remain that way forever. It’s incredibly unlikely that Epic Games or Psyonix will reverse the decision and slap a price on the rocket-propelled car soccer game either soon or in the future. This doesn’t mean it will never go back to being a paid-for game, though. We’d be hugely surprised if Rocket League stops being free-to-play (can you imagine the backlash that will get?) but we never know what will happen to the game in the next few years. How long will Rocket League be free? Right now, it definitely looks like forever.
